How Much Does Concrete Repair Cost in Los Angeles?
Angi’s 2026 guide puts a typical concrete driveway repair at $829 to $2,925, with an average of $1,872. That is a national figure, based on 22,652 verified projects. HomeGuide’s national range for concrete driveway repairs is $300 to $3,000.
Your concrete repair cost depends on the kind of repair. Crack sealing is priced per linear foot, often with a minimum fee. Replacing a broken section is priced per square foot. Our page on concrete repair for cracked and root-lifted slabs explains which repair fits which crack.

What Does Each Type of Concrete Repair Cost?
Each guide prices a repair by its own unit. Every row names its source.
| Repair job | National guide figure | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Seal hairline cracks | $0.50 to $3 per linear foot (HomeGuide, Angi); $14.97 to $17.90 per linear foot on a small job, cracks to 1/4 inch (Homewyse) | A $100 to $250 minimum service fee (HomeGuide) |
| Patch a damaged area | $13.82 to $16.43 per sq ft on a small job (Homewyse) | Loose concrete removed before the patch |
| Spalled or flaking surface | $3 to $5 per sq ft; $1,800 to $4,200 for a 600 sq ft two-car driveway (HomeGuide) | Whether the slab below is still sound |
| Cut out and replace a section | $6 to $14 per sq ft, haul-away included (Angi) | Roots, base repair and the nearest joint |
| Tear out and repour | $6 to $15 per sq ft (HomeGuide); full driveway replacement averages $6,400 (Angi) | Slab size, demolition, base work and access |
| Parkway sidewalk under an A-Permit | $3 to $8 per sq ft for moderate repairs; $10 to $25+ per sq ft to remove and replace (HomeGuide) | The city permit, tree roots and joint cuts |
The crack row shows how a minimum visit shapes concrete crack repair cost. Angi says even a crack that runs the length of a driveway won’t cost more than $75 to fill. Some pros charge a minimum trip fee of $100 to $150, which normally covers every surface crack.
Homewyse prices the small job itself. Its January 2026 figures build in setup and mobilization time plus a 2-hour minimum labor charge. On a small repair, those fixed costs lift the per-foot price.
What Drives Concrete Repair Prices in Los Angeles?
Angi says repair type and damage size matter most. After those two, the site sets the driveway repair cost.
The ground under the slab comes first. City of LA plan check treats local soil as expansive unless a soils report says otherwise. That kind of clay swells when wet and shrinks as it dries, and the slab rides the movement. A repair that skips the base leaves the cause in place.
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) blames most cracks on poor design and construction practice. Improper subgrade preparation is on its list, so base work is often part of the price.
Tree roots lift slabs from below. The city’s sidewalk spec has roots and broken concrete removed from the subgrade before a new pour. Angi puts root removal at $100 to $200 on average.
One customer’s review describes our crew cutting out a cracked slab by the front entrance and removing old tree roots. The ground was leveled and the new concrete poured in just 2 days.
Access sets the labor. HomeGuide says repair costs run higher on driveways with sharp curves or steep slopes. Large trees and obstructions that block crews raise them too. Angi puts site preparation at $50 to $100 per hour, and its slab replacement price includes haul-away.
Joints set the size of the cut. On sidewalk and driveway work in the City of LA right of way, the Bureau of Engineering spec settles it. A saw cut within 30 inches of a joint or edge gets moved to that joint or edge. Since replacement is priced per square foot, a bigger cut means a bigger concrete slab repair cost.
Should You Repair or Replace Cracked Concrete?
Repair, in most cases. NRMCA says it is not possible to produce concrete that is completely free of cracks. Most random early cracks look bad but rarely affect the structural integrity or service life of the slab.
Movement is the test. A stable crack with level edges gets cleaned and sealed. NRMCA names settlement cracks among the common forms, and those mean the ground moved.
When one side of a crack has dropped, or a panel rocks underfoot, the base below has failed. That section gets cut out and repoured on a fixed base. Sunken sections get the same fix, since lifting slabs with mudjacking or foam is a specialty we do not offer.
Replacement is the bigger number. Angi’s national average for a full driveway replacement is $6,400, against $1,872 for a typical repair. When cracks cross most of the driveway over a failed base, a full driveway tear-out and repour is the fix.
The full concrete driveway price breakdown covers that bigger job. It includes the demolition of the old drive and the permit for the approach.
A slab that is sound but worn on top sits in between. HomeGuide suggests resurfacing for driveways under 20 years old with minor cracks or spalling. Our page on resurfacing a sound but worn slab covers that option.
Steps follow the same split. A chipped step edge or broken corner gets formed and poured again. When a whole stair run or walk has failed, rebuilding broken steps and walks is the better fit.
Do You Need a Permit to Repair a Sidewalk in Los Angeles?
In the City of Los Angeles, yes. The parkway strip and the sidewalk out front are public right of way. City code, LAMC 62.105, requires a permit for construction there. The Bureau of Engineering issues it as the A-Permit, which covers sidewalk and driveway repair.
Street tree damage has its own path. Repairing sidewalk damage from street tree roots takes a no-fee A-Permit. The Bureau of Engineering waives the fee when it gets a picture of the damaged area. Trimming street tree roots then needs a Street Tree permit from the Bureau of Street Services, requested after the A-Permit.
The applicant is usually the homeowner or a representative. The permit is handled as part of the job. We file the paperwork for you where the agency allows it. Our A-Permit fees and apron rules guide covers the driveway side.
The city may also cover part of the sidewalk repair cost. Its Sidewalk Rebate Program reimburses eligible homeowners for part of what they spend. When we checked in October 2026, new funding restrictions had delayed the program. All new applications go on a waitlist.
On your lot, walks and driveways no more than 30 inches above grade need no City of LA building permit. They also cannot sit over a basement or a story below.
Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and the other nearby cities set their own rules. Altadena and La Crescenta-Montrose are unincorporated LA County.
How a Concrete Repair Quote Comes Together
We price a repair on site, crack by crack. We check whether both edges sit level and where the joints fall, and we note roots and access. The quote marks which panels sit in the public right of way, so the permit question is settled up front.
In a Google review from September 2026, a customer compared a few bids for driveway crack patching. The job also added a brick-inlay front walkway, and the customer chose us. The written quote is free, and we give it to you on site.
