Outdoor Tile Installation in Los Angeles, CA

Tile · Los Angeles, CA

Tile Built for Outside

Outdoor tile is having its LA moment, and for good reason: large-format porcelain delivers looks concrete cannot — wood-plank decks that never splinter, stone visuals with perfect consistency, clean modern grids — with the durability a pool deck demands. Around Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and across the Los Angeles area we install exterior tile and porcelain pavers on pool surrounds, patios, steps and entries, set to survive sun, water and actual use.

Exterior tile lives or dies on what is under it. Our installs start at the substrate - sound concrete, correct slopes, crack-isolation and waterproofing where the site calls for it - then use exterior-rated setting materials and grout, full mortar coverage under every tile, and movement joints where the assembly needs to breathe. One of our recent projects wrapped an infinity-edge pool in wood-look porcelain; it is on the work page and it reads like a resort.

Porcelain Pool Decks: The Modern Standard

Porcelain pavers solved the pool deck. They stay cooler than dark stone, shrug off chlorine and salt systems, never need sealing, and come in slip-rated finishes made for wet feet. The look range is absurd - weathered oak planks, French limestone, poured-concrete minimalism - with none of those materials' maintenance.

The install is where the promise is kept: decks pitched to drain, edges and coping detailed for the waterline, joints aligned through the field, and every tile bedded in full contact so a dropped dumbbell meets solid backing instead of a hollow spot. Wet areas are unforgiving, and we build them like it.

Patios, Steps and Entries Worth the Upgrade

On patios, large-format tile turns an outdoor floor into architecture - tight joints, long sightlines, indoor-outdoor continuity if you match the interior floor. On steps and entries, tile and stone cladding dress structural concrete in a finish that welcomes people in. Both are detail-heavy installs: edge profiles, nosings, and layout planned so cuts land where eyes do not.

Tile also teams with the rest of our masonry - a tiled landing meeting a brick border, a porcelain deck against a stone veneer spa wall, steps clad to match the patio field. One crew, one layout conversation, no mismatched grout lines between trades.

Exterior-Grade or Not at All

Outdoor tile fails when indoor habits go outside: interior tiles with no frost or slip rating, mastic instead of exterior thinset, hollow spots under heels, no movement joints against restraint. We build the opposite - exterior-rated tile and setting systems, full coverage, expansion detail - because LA sun and irrigation cycles will find every shortcut in an assembly.

Over existing concrete, honesty comes first: a sound slab is a great tile base after prep; a cracked, moving slab will telegraph straight through porcelain. We assess before we promise, and when the slab needs help first, you will know exactly what and why.

How We Work

How a Job With Camberos Runs

From the first look at the site to the final walk-through, here is exactly how it goes.

1

See the Site

We look at the project where it lives: the grade, the access, what is being held back or built on, and what you want the finished space to look like.

2

Straight Quote

You get a written quote with a real timeline. It spells out materials, finishes, demolition and haul-off, and flags permit or engineering questions before anything is built.

3

We Build It

Proper base and footings, clean courses, real drainage behind every wall. The details you cannot see are the reason the work lasts, and we treat them that way.

4

Final Walk-Through

We walk the finished work together — joints, finishes, cleanup, the whole job. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.

How much does outdoor tile cost in the Los Angeles area?
Material drives it as much as labor - porcelain lines run from accessible to designer, and substrate prep varies by site. A pool deck with waterproofing details prices differently than a straightforward patio. We measure, show you tile options at real price points, and quote in writing.
Is tile slippery around a pool?
Not when it is specified right. Exterior porcelain comes in slip-rated finishes designed for wet barefoot traffic, and that rating is a line item in our material selection, not an afterthought. We will show you compliant options that still look the way you want.
Can you tile over my existing concrete patio?
If the slab is sound, flat enough and stable - yes, with proper prep and crack-isolation membrane where needed. If the slab is heaving or actively cracking, tile would just report the problem upward, and we will recommend fixing the concrete first.
How durable is porcelain outside?
Extremely. Exterior porcelain is dense, nearly non-absorbent, colorfast in sun and unbothered by pool chemistry - which is why it has taken over high-end pool decks. The system is as strong as its installation, so we put the effort into bedding, joints and drainage.
Tile, pavers or concrete for my project?
Porcelain tile for the most architectural look and wet-area performance; interlocking pavers for driveways and flexible repairability; concrete for budget and simple forms. We do all three, so you get a recommendation based on your space and priorities, not a product pitch.
