Pavers are the premium answer to LA flatwork: driveways, patios, walkways and pool decks built from interlocking units over engineered base, around Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and across the Los Angeles area. The appeal is practical as much as visual — pavers flex with ground movement instead of cracking, a stained or settled unit lifts out and resets in minutes, and the pattern and color range runs from classic cobble to crisp large-format modern.
The system only works when the invisible parts are right: excavation to depth, compacted base in lifts, screeded bedding, edge restraint that locks the field, and joint sand that finishes the interlock. That base work is most of the labor and all of the lifespan, and it is where we spend the effort. For projects where poured concrete or clay brick fits better, we do those too — and we will tell you which material actually suits the job.

Concrete is one piece, and one piece cracks. Pavers are thousands of pieces designed to move a hair and settle back, which is exactly what LA's expansive soils and busy tree roots demand. When something does shift, the repair is surgical: lift the affected units, re-screed the bedding, reset the same pavers. No sawcuts, no patch that never matches, no living with it.
Driveways are where the difference shows up hardest. A vehicular paver system on a properly compacted base takes daily cars without rutting, and its worst-case maintenance is a re-sand or a small re-level - compare that with the spreading crack map on the slab next door. Published lifespan figures consistently put pavers ahead of poured concrete by a decade or more.
Half the joy of pavers is design freedom. Herringbone that tightens a driveway visually, running bond that stretches a small patio, large-format planks for modern houses, contrasting soldier-course borders that frame the field like trim. We lay out patterns to the space - and to the cutting they demand, because complex patterns mean more cuts and we would rather you choose knowing that.
Pavers also mix beautifully with other masonry: stone veneer seat walls rising from a paver patio, fire pits set into the field, turf ribbons between units, and gray-scale paver decks that make a pool read resort-modern. Some of our favorite finished pool areas on the work page are exactly that build.
Paver failures are base failures. Units that dip, edges that spread, weeds in open joints - all of it traces back to thin base, lazy compaction or missing restraint. Our installs get the full system: subgrade cut to plan, base rock compacted in lifts, bedding screeded flat, restraint anchored at every edge, and polymeric sand vibrated into joints to lock the field and starve the weeds.
Drainage gets designed in, not hoped for - surface falls that move water off the field, and permeable paver systems where a yard needs to drink its own runoff instead of shedding it. It is more work than dry-laying stones on dirt, which is exactly why our paver jobs stay flat.

We look at the project where it lives: the grade, the access, what is being held back or built on, and what you want the finished space to look like.
You get a written quote with a real timeline. It spells out materials, finishes, demolition and haul-off, and flags permit or engineering questions before anything is built.
Proper base and footings, clean courses, real drainage behind every wall. The details you cannot see are the reason the work lasts, and we treat them that way.
We walk the finished work together — joints, finishes, cleanup, the whole job. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.
