Stone Masonry & Veneer in Los Angeles, CA

Stone Masonry · Los Angeles, CA

Real Stone, Set Right

Stone masonry around Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and across the Los Angeles area covers everything from a flagstone path through a rose garden to a river rock wall that has stood since the neighborhood was built. We work natural stone the slow, correct way — each piece picked, fitted and set by hand — and we install stone veneer where the look of full stone needs to land on a modern wall, column, fireplace surround or outdoor kitchen.

The foothill neighborhoods we work — Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena — are river rock country, full of arroyo-stone walls, porches and chimneys from the early 1900s. That work deserves masons who respect it. When a historic river rock wall on one of our projects failed, we rebuilt it using roughly 95 percent of the original rock, so the finished wall looked like nothing had ever happened. That is the standard we hold stone work to, restoration or new.

Flagstone That Feels Like It Grew There

A good flagstone surface is a puzzle solved a thousand times: pieces fitted so joints stay tight and consistent, thickness sorted so the surface walks flat, and color blended so no single stone shouts. We build flagstone patios, garden paths, pool surrounds and entry landings — set dry over compacted base or mortared over concrete depending on the use — and we cut each fit instead of forcing it.

Flagstone pairs naturally with the rest of an outdoor living project: seat walls and fire pits rising out of the same palette, turf or planting pockets between stones, and steps that carry the material up a slope. Some of our favorite finished yards are exactly that combination.

Veneer: Full-Stone Looks Without Full-Stone Weight

Stone veneer — natural stone cut thin, or quality manufactured stone — lets a block wall, a stucco column or an outdoor kitchen island wear real texture. The craft is in the layout and the edges: corners that read as solid stone, joints coursed like a real wall, caps and transitions that finish clean. Done lazily, veneer looks like wallpaper; done right, guests will put a hand on it before they believe it.

We install veneer over new block construction and existing walls, with the lath, scratch coat and flashing details that keep the system attached and dry for the long haul. Natural and manufactured both have their place, and we will walk you through cost, weight and looks honestly before you choose.

River Rock and Restoration Work

River rock masonry is its own discipline. Rounded arroyo stones do not stack like cut block — every rock is a decision, and the mortar has to grip shapes that want to roll. We build new river rock walls, borders and accents, and we restore the historic ones: resetting failed sections, rebuilding from the footing where needed, and reusing the original stone so the repair disappears into the old work.

If your property has a leaning or bulging rock wall, sooner is cheaper than later — a wall that has started to move is telling you about water and footing problems that only grow. We will look at it, tell you honestly whether it needs repair or rebuild, and price both paths. More on our approach on the repair and restoration page.

How We Work

How a Job With Camberos Runs

From the first look at the site to the final walk-through, here is exactly how it goes.

1

See the Site

We look at the project where it lives: the grade, the access, what is being held back or built on, and what you want the finished space to look like.

2

Straight Quote

You get a written quote with a real timeline. It spells out materials, finishes, demolition and haul-off, and flags permit or engineering questions before anything is built.

3

We Build It

Proper base and footings, clean courses, real drainage behind every wall. The details you cannot see are the reason the work lasts, and we treat them that way.

4

Final Walk-Through

We walk the finished work together — joints, finishes, cleanup, the whole job. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.

How much does stone work cost in the Los Angeles area?
Stone has the widest price range in masonry — flagstone set on base, veneer on a wall, and a structural stone wall are all different animals, and natural versus manufactured stone moves the material cost a lot. We look at the project, show you real samples at different price points, and quote it in writing.
What is the difference between natural and manufactured stone veneer?
Natural veneer is real quarried stone cut thin; manufactured is cast concrete molded and colored to look like stone. Manufactured costs less and weighs less; natural lasts longer, ages better and never repeats a mold pattern. Both can look excellent installed well. We install both and will give you the straight trade-offs for your project.
Can you repair an old river rock wall?
Yes — river rock restoration is some of the work we are proudest of. Where a wall has failed we rebuild it from sound footing up, reusing as much original stone as possible; on one historic wall we reused about 95 percent of the rock. The goal is a wall that looks untouched, not patched.
Is flagstone slippery around a pool?
It depends on the stone and the finish. We steer pool surrounds toward stones and textures with honest grip when wet, and set them with drainage falls so water leaves instead of ponding. If your heart is set on a stone that gets slick, sealers with grip additives can help — we will tell you the real options.
Can you match the stone already on my house?
Usually. Between regional stone yards and careful blending we can get remarkably close on color and coursing, and on river rock we often reuse the original stone itself. We bring samples to the site and match in daylight against the existing work before ordering anything.
