Beverly Hills is built on masonry that has to be perfect twice — structurally, and in the daylight where everyone sees it. Trousdale Estates is terraced country — mid-century houses on cut pads, held level by walls doing constant, invisible work. Rebuilding and extending those terraces is disciplined construction: engineered footings, reinforced block, drainage designed for canyon storm flows, and finishes — smooth stucco, stone veneer, board-formed looks — that keep the mid-century language intact. Beverly Hills runs its own building department with its own review standards, and we build inside them rather than around them.
On the canyon edges the same physics apply with more trees involved. We plan footings and access around mature landscaping, protect what makes the property worth the work, and stage tight sites so the street stays as calm as the garden.
Flats work is garden masonry at its most refined: brick and stone garden walls, hedged courtyard entries with pilasters and gates, walkways in herringbone and flagstone, and the repairs that keep older walls crisp — repointed in matched mortar, capped properly, standing straight. New work beside 1920s and 30s architecture has to look like it was always there, and matching material and mortar is the craft we lean on to get it there.
Behind the house the list turns to living: pool surrounds in stone or porcelain tile, spa and seat walls in veneer, outdoor kitchens and fire features built to host, and the terraces that tie it together. We build them as one coordinated project so the finished garden agrees with itself - and with the house it belongs to.
