Brick Masonry
Brick walls, steps, walkways, planters and full brick driveways — plus brick veneer over existing walls. Classic material, clean coursing.
Learn MoreA chimney is brickwork standing in the weather with nobody looking at it, and around Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and across the Los Angeles area most of them are older than the people who own them. Chimney repair is the same trade as the rest of our work — brick, mortar and matching — applied where sun, rain and the occasional shake do their worst: joints washing out, crowns cracking, faces spalling, and top courses working loose over the roofline.
We repoint failing joints with mortar tuned to the original, replace spalled brick with honest matches, repair or recast cracked crowns, set caps that keep water out, and take leaning or storm-damaged stacks down to sound courses and rebuild them straight. Where the story is bigger than the chimney — cracks running into the wall below, settled foundations — we read it honestly the way we do on every repair.

Chimneys fail from the top down. The crown takes the sun and the rain first — hairline cracks let water into the core, and from there every wet winter pries joints open a little more. Down the stack, mortar washes out of the weather side years before the sheltered side, and soft older brick starts shedding its face. None of it announces itself until pieces show up in the gutter or the yard.
The fix is staged to what the stack actually needs: sound structure with tired joints gets repointing and a new crown; scattered bad brick gets cut out and matched; a stack that has moved or lost its bond gets rebuilt from the roofline on the courses that are still true. We tell you which one you are in before anything is priced.
A repaired chimney sits in the most visible spot on the house, so a mismatch is advertised against the sky. The craft is the same one we bring to restoration: brick sourced to match size, color and texture, mortar tinted and struck to the original joints, coursing carried through so the repair reads as original work.
That matters double on the older brick this side of LA — 1920s clay brick with real patina cannot be bought new, so the repair plan leans on saving and relaying original brick wherever it is sound, the same way we reuse original stone on historic walls.
The other end of the flue is a fireplace, and that is masonry too: surrounds and hearths in brick or stone, refacing a dated firebox wall, and veneer that turns a plain chimney breast into the centerpiece of the room.
Outside, fire is one of our favorite things to build — fire pits and outdoor fire features wrapped in stone, seat walls around them, full outdoor rooms. If the project is a backyard fireplace rather than a repair, that page shows how we build them.

We look at the project where it lives: the grade, the access, what is being held back or built on, and what you want the finished space to look like.
You get a written quote with a real timeline. It spells out materials, finishes, demolition and haul-off, and flags permit or engineering questions before anything is built.
Proper base and footings, clean courses, real drainage behind every wall. The details you cannot see are the reason the work lasts, and we treat them that way.
We walk the finished work together — joints, finishes, cleanup, the whole job. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.
