Stucco Repair in Los Angeles, CA

Stucco · Los Angeles, CA

Patched, Matched and Made New

Stucco repair is mason's work, because in Los Angeles most stucco is riding on masonry. Around Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and across the Los Angeles area, the garden walls, property walls, fences, columns and planters wearing a stucco coat are block and concrete underneath, and when the coat cracks, chips or sheds, the fix calls for someone who understands both layers. We patch and match damaged stucco, recoat tired walls, and apply fresh stucco over new and existing block, with the color and texture blended so the repair does not introduce itself.

Stucco is also the finish half of the wall trade we work every day. New retaining walls get their smooth coat, rebuilt walls get refinished to match the house, and older homes get their original renders repaired in kind. One of the jobs in our work is exactly that: a failing wall reinforced, then finished in fresh stucco so it reads as a new wall.

  • Historic stucco and render repair on older homes
  • Color and texture blends matched in daylight

Patch, Match and Make It Disappear

A stucco patch fails in two ways: it falls out, or it shows. The first is preparation, and we treat it that way: loose material cut back to sound coat, edges keyed, the substrate corrected so whatever cracked the stucco is not still moving underneath. Water-damaged sections come off until the wall is dry and solid, because stucco over a wet problem is a bandage.

The second is matching, and matching is the craft. Texture is applied by hand to mimic the existing coat, whether that is smooth steel-trowel, sand float or a heavier dash. Color gets blended against the wall in daylight, and where a wall is faded, we will tell you honestly when a full color coat will look better than a perfect patch on a tired field.

Recoats That Reset the Whole Wall

Some walls do not need surgery, they need a new coat. A recoat covers a field of hairline cracks, staining and old patchwork in one pass, and a color coat can retire the paint cycle entirely: the color is in the material, so it weathers instead of peeling. For LA property walls and fences, it is the difference between touching up every few years and forgetting about the wall for a decade or two.

Recoats only make sense over sound stucco, so every one starts with the same honest read we bring to masonry repair: tap out the hollow spots, open up anything suspicious, fix the wall first. Then the new coat goes on as a finish, not as a cover story.

Stucco Over Block: the Standard LA Finish

Most of the stucco we apply goes over walls we built. A reinforced block wall destined for stucco gets its scratch and finish coats as part of the build, and the same goes for courtyard walls, gate piers, outdoor kitchen islands and seat walls. One crew carries the wall from footing to finish, so the coat and the structure never argue.

On the older streets this side of LA, stucco is part of the architecture: Spanish revival renders, garden walls coated in the same finish as the house, textures that have weathered eighty years. We repair those in kind, matched to the original texture and finish, the same way we treat historic brick and river rock on our restoration work.

How We Work

How a Job With Camberos Runs

From the first look at the site to the final walk-through, here is exactly how it goes.

1

See the Site

We look at the project where it lives: the grade, the access, what is being held back or built on, and what you want the finished space to look like.

2

Straight Quote

You get a written quote with a real timeline. It spells out materials, finishes, demolition and haul-off, and flags permit or engineering questions before anything is built.

3

We Build It

Proper base and footings, clean courses, real drainage behind every wall. The details you cannot see are the reason the work lasts, and we treat them that way.

4

Final Walk-Through

We walk the finished work together — joints, finishes, cleanup, the whole job. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.

How much does stucco repair cost?
It depends on what failed. A few cracks patched and matched is a small job; a full recoat of a long property wall is a bigger one; stucco over a wall that itself needs repair gets priced as both layers. We look at the wall, tell you which job you actually have, and put the number in a free written quote.
Can exterior stucco be repaired, or does it all have to come off?
Repaired, most of the time. If the substrate is sound and the coat is failing in patches, we cut back to solid material and patch-and-match. Stucco only has to come off wholesale when the wall behind it is failing or water has gotten behind the coat across a wide area, and we will show you which case you have.
Can you match my existing stucco texture and color?
Matching is the whole point of a good patch. Texture is worked by hand to copy the existing coat, and color gets blended and checked against the wall in daylight. On faded walls we say so honestly: sometimes the right answer is a matched patch, and sometimes it is a fresh color coat over the whole run.
What do the cracks in my stucco mean?
Hairlines that wander are usually the coat itself: shrinkage, sun and age, all cosmetic. Cracks that step through the joints of the block underneath, keep growing, or come with a lean or bulge are the wall talking, not the stucco. We read them honestly and price the fix that matches, cosmetic or structural.
Do you stucco whole houses?
Our stucco work rides on masonry: property walls, fences, retaining walls, columns, planters and outdoor features, plus repairs and recoats on those surfaces. Re-stuccoing an entire framed house is a plastering contractor specialty, and if that is what your project needs, we will tell you straight at the site visit.
